FAMA collaborates in furnishing an accessible apartment at the Paraplegics Hospital in Toledo

28/11/2023

The National Paraplegics Hospital in Toledo, in collaboration with the ONCE Foundation, has inaugurated a 40-square-meter accessible apartment designed for the adaptation of people leaving the hospital after a spinal cord injury. This project aims to provide an accessible environment for daily life for patients, including those planning to live independently.

The apartment, a result of collaboration between various companies, including Fama Sofas, is presented as a functional training space for basic and instrumental activities, highlighting accessibility solutions that promote the independence of people at home.

From Fama, we have contributed key elements to the accessibility of the apartment, including the sofa and auxiliary tables in the living room, as well as other pieces of furniture intended for the hospital's daily use. The selection of each element has been based not only on functionality but also on its aesthetic component. An accessible piece of furniture can also be a design piece.

This project demonstrates that it is possible to have an adapted home without the need for large dimensions, focusing on the efficiency and quality of life of people with disabilities.
