All Fama sofas are custom-made and made to order for each customer. The possibilities for customisation of our models are endless. You can choose from a wide range of module options and sizes, mechanisms, or legs, among other elements. In addition, we have a catalogue with more than 1,000 fabrics available that can be combined as you like.

All Fama products are customisable and made to order. You can choose from over 1,000 fabrics for your sofa or armchair. In addition, you can choose other elements such as: quantity, shape, and position of the modules, type of legs, arms, mechanisms, finishes or backrest height. In the "Simulator" section, you can design your own composition. Also, through our official distributors, you will be able to create the composition that you like the most and see a result very close to reality.
03 What should I consider when buying a sofa?
What should I consider when buying a sofa?

Before deciding to buy a Fama sofa, we recommend considering:
- The space it will occupy: measure the room and think about what type of composition will be most functional for your home.

- How will you use it: do you want a sofa for you and your family? Do you live alone? Will someone sleep on it? Are you more of a sitter or a lounger? We have different types of sofas and depending on the way you will use it more often, some models will meet your needs better than others.

- The number of people who will use it: a factor to consider especially when choosing the number of modules or even the arrangement of your sofa.

- Sofa characteristics: you should think about what will best suit your needs: high or low back, relax mechanism, arm type, more or less seat depth, etc.

- Fabric: think about what type of fabric you want and need; and how you would like your sofa to look. Specially in the case of children or pets, the choice of fabric will be very important. Remember that we have more than 1,000 fabrics that you can combine as you like in each module.

Apart of considering all these factors, we would always recommend you to visit your nearest distributor and let yourself be advised by professionals before making a solid decision.
04 How can I clean my sofa?
How can I clean my sofa?

Sometimes, either due to daily use or an incident, our sofa may have some stains and need to be cleaned.
Here are some tips to bear in mind before you start cleaning.
- If you are going to wash the covers in the washing machine, we recommend you to first do a test wash with one cover only before washing them all (and only if your fabric allows machine washing). Keep in mind that in order to protect the zippers or velcro during the washing process, you should put the cover inside out to avoid damages to the fabric.

- If the fabric allows it, the best option is always dry cleaning. You can also use a steam cleaner, protecting the fabric with a cotton cloth.

- If you want to clean the sofa for daily maintenance, the best way is using a damp cloth to remove dust and avoid accumulating dirt.

- In the case of specific stains, we recommend you to use a damp cloth with a little neutral soap (you can mix water with neutral soap in a spray bottle) and gently rub in circular motions on the stain. If the stain remains, let the water dry and repeat this process several times until it disappears completely.

- It is important to know that, if your fabric is made with chenille, it is normal that with time and use, some slight marks with a different shade may appear.

- Even with all these tips, it is important to respect the washing guidelines recommended by each fabric manufacturer. You will find all the information related to cleaning on the label located in the base of your sofa or armchair.

- Three-year guarantee for the rest of the sofa, which can be extended by six months by activating the guarantee through our website.

By entering the "Activate Guarantee" section, you will find a form. Fill in all the fields, enter the guarantee code that you will find in the "Welcome pack" of your sofa and add a rating of the product. Automatically, we will extend the guarantee for six more months.

If you have any incident, fault or damage on a Fama product, you should contact the distributor where you bought it and notify the reason for the incident. They will be responsible for managing it in order to provide you with a quick and efficient solution.

Puedes elegir entre las más de 1.000 tapicerías de nuestro catálogo (lisas, estampadas, de diferente colorido, textura y construcción, etc.). La mayoría de ellas son exclusivas, por lo que solo las encontrarás en Fama. Además, podrás tapizar cada módulo con la tela que elijas, por lo que las combinaciones son prácticamente infinitas.
Si por ejemplo decides crear una composición de cinco módulos, podrás elegir una tapicería distinta para cada uno. También podrás elegir, por ejemplo, una tapicería para la base del sofá y añadir diferentes telas para los cojines decorativos.

Are the fabrics easy to clean?

A fabric that is easy to clean is one in which certain stains can be removed simply by using water and lightly rubbing the surface. Among the wide variety of fabrics in our catalogue, many of them offer an easy-to-clean finish like AQUACLEAN from Interfabrics, PERFORMANCE+ from Crevin or EASY CLEAN from Comersan.
10 What are the best fabrics for pets?
What are the best fabrics for pets?

If you have a pet at home, whether it's a dog or a cat, you're probably wondering what the best fabric to choose is. The first thing to keep in mind is that there are no "pet-resistant fabrics", only “pet-friendly”. No fabric manufacturer will ever give any kind of guarantee.
On the other hand, there are fabrics that due to their construction or the technology they have, can have certain characteristics that make them more appropriate for homes with pets.
When we talk about fabrics that are better suited to a pet-friendly home, we mainly refer to those that have one of these three characteristics: that they are easy to clean, that they are less prone to snags (especially in cats who use their claws the most) and that they retain less hair.
Velvet would be one of the best fabric options for pets, as it is less likely to snag with the claws of cats (and dogs) and also retains little hair and is easy to clean. In our catalogue you will find three velvet fabric collections: Velsatis, Venice and Varenna.
Other collections that we recommend for having some features that make them suitable for pets are: Mystic, Hudson, Lincoln, Osiris, Arty Edition, Imaginary Edition, La Movida or Wander, among many other options. Your nearest distributor will advise you to make a good choice.
However, false expectations should not be created regarding the pet-resistance of a fabric. It's important to note that the chosen fabric does not guarantee resistance to pets, as the pet's education and habits are more significant factors.
11 Is there an option to choose recycled fabrics?

Yes. At Fama, we take our environmental policy very seriously. In addition to adapting our production processes to be as least harmful as possible to the environment, we also work with sustainable raw materials.
In our fabric catalogue, you will find collections like 'Nature', with fabrics made 100% from recycled materials. We also have many other fabrics collections that have a high percentage of recycled thread such as:
- Arty Edition: 35% recycled cotton.
- Axis: 27% recycled thread.
- Club: 27% recycled thread.
- Imaginary Edition: 35% recycled cotton.
- Marvel: 26% recycled cotton.
- Matiss: 26% recycled thread.
- Neboa: 22% recycled thread.

In the Guarantee Certificate you will find the composition of the fabric of your sofa, and the cleaning symbols that will indicate if it can be washed by hand, in the washing machine, if it needs dry cleaning, if it can be ironed, etc...

Regardless of these symbols, we will always recommend dry cleaning. Compared to clothes, upholstery should be treated like a suit or a coat, not like a shirt or jeans.
13 If the fabric of my sofa can be washed, can I do this at home, or does it require any special care?

Of course you can, but we give you some tips for washing the covers of your sofa (provided that it allows washing).

- We recommend you to wash just one cover before you wash the rest.

- It is very important that you pay special attention to the cleaning instructions recommended by the manufacturer of the fabric (the symbols in the Guarantee Certificate).

-If you wash the covers in the washing machine, we recommend you to turn them inside out first. This way you will avoid the zippers and Velcro damaging the right side of the fabric.

- If the cover has Velcro on it, we recommend you to cover it before washing the cover in the washing machine to avoid damages in the fabric. We include some Velour tapes in our sofas for covering the Velcro before washing the covers.
14 How can I keep my sofa in perfect condition?
How can I keep my sofa in perfect condition?

Sofas are used every day, like clothes, and therefore they get worn with time and use.

All our models are designed with the aim of assuring that they will keep in perfect conditions with time and use.

Apart from the construction of the sofa (not to deform with use) it is very important to treat the new sofa with care. Here are some tips for this purpose:

- Plump the back and arm cushions up regularly. If the back cushions are zipped to the base of the sofa, we recommend you to remove the cushions for plumping them up.

- If you notice that the seat cushions are sliding forward in the sofas we recommend you to fix them back in their original position. This will avoid deformation on the front of the seats.

Apart from these tips, in the following questions we give other recommendations that will help you keep your sofa in good conditions (cleaning instructions, advices on how to move the sofa, etc.)
15 Will the feet of the sofa scratch a wooden floor?
Will the feet of the sofa scratch a wooden floor?

The wooden floor can be damaged when first placing the sofa (if you do not take special care). With normal use the wooden floor should not be marked since the legs do not have any sharp edges that can damage the floor.

Some models include felt gliders (swivel armchairs). However, if you have a delicate floor like wood or marble, we recommend you to fix felt gliders on the legs of the sofa. This way you will avoid marks on the floor when the sofas are moved.
16 The back and arm cushions seem to lose volume...
The back and arm cushions seem to lose volume...

The back and arm cushions are normally filled with fibre, or feather and fibre, and although they have internal pockets to keep the filling well distributed they can lose some volume with use. To avoid this little problem we recommend you to plump the cushions up regularly.
The easiest way of doing it is taking the cushion with both hands and hitting it (as if you were clapping with the cushion between your hands).
17 Can I move the armchairs often without damaging them?

Armchairs that are meant to be moved regularly are normally provided with castors for such purpose.

The rest of our armchairs (especially Recliner armchairs) are heavier and we do not recommend that you move them very often. However, when they need to be moved they must be pulled from the central body and never from the armrests.
On our Recliner armchairs, the lower part of the arms are normally attached to the frame and these may become loose if pulled from here instead of from the main body.

The seat cushions are normally fixed to the base of the sofa with Velcro to stop them sliding forward. Even so, they can sometimes slide a little bit if we sit on the very front of them.
This may cause deformation on the front of the seat cushion. To avoid this problem we just have to fix them back in their original position.
19 How is the frame made?
How is the frame made?

All our frames are made of pine wood.

We keep the wood for at least 1 year before using it. It could cause problems if not completely dry.

All the shaped pieces are cut with CADCAM cutting machines, so they are all perfectly shaped and identical.

All the knots are removed from the wood used for the frames. This way we make sure that the frames will not break.

The assembly of the frames is carried out by our expert team of craftsmen.

We are so sure about the strength and durability of our frames that we guarantee them for life.

All Fama products are customisable. You can choose the same fabrics for your sofa and for the rest of the furniture: chairs, stools, armchairs, upholstered tables, etc.
21 What type of seat suspension does my sofa have? Can it collapse with use?
What type of seat suspension does my sofa have? Can it collapse with use?

There are several types of seat suspension (sprung, elastic webbing, etc), and with some of them the seats of the sofa collapse after time. This will not happen with our system.

Not so long ago the sprung was one of the best options of seat suspension, but it also presented two main problems: they became noisy with time, and in some cases they damaged the materials covering them (fabric and foam).

The most common system nowadays is the elastic webbing. This provides the sofa with a great comfort initially, but with time it loses elasticity and collapses.

In Fama we do not use any of these systems. We use the NEA system in our seats. It is a new system of seat suspension made out of high quality materials that offer an unlimited durability.

We offer lifetime guarantee on our webbings because we are so sure that our system will not cause any issues.
22 Can the sofa be exposed to direct sunlight?
Can the sofa be exposed to direct sunlight?

All the fabrics in our range do comply with the CE light endurance standards. However, if any fabric is exposed to direct sunlight it will become pale with time (mostly red and blue colours). It is therefore recommended to keep the sofas away from the direct sunlight.

Most upholstery fabrics are made out of chenille which is a type of fibre that gives the fabric a softer texture and look. It is normal that some marks appear in the chenille with time and use.

You can have the scatters in shape if you take a little care of them, like avoiding seating on them or bending them. This could deform them.

Our manufacturing is 100% 'Made in Spain'. All Fama products are totally manufactured in our factory located in Yecla (Murcia). In addition, we have been certified with ISO 9001 since 1998, so our processes and the raw materials we use meet the highest quality standards.
26 What is the seat hardness regulator? How does it work?
What is the seat hardness regulator? How does it work?

The hardness regulator is a system designed and patented by Fama, included in the Tempo, Korinto and Luxor models, with which you can choose up to five different levels of hardness in each sofa seat. Using plastic slats and thanks to a movable metal bar, the hardness can be adjusted whenever desired. The system has five different positions.
Depending on the position in which the metal bar is placed, a different hardness will be obtained.
27 What is the difference between Arianne Love and Arianne Plus?
What is the difference between Arianne Love and Arianne Plus?

Arianne is one of our most popular models. You may be thinking of buying one, but you have seen that there are two different models: Arianne Love and Arianne Plus. There are some differences, although minimal, between both Arianne lines.
The visible differences are the number of “buttons” in the back and seat of the sofa. In Arianne Love there are three recesses in the stitchings while in Arianne Plus there are two. There is also a difference in the back attachment system.
In addition to the above, the main difference between both models is that in Arianne Plus all the covers are removable, including the base ones.

All our products are customised and may to order, so it is not possible to return them once you receive them at home. To avoid this problem, we emphasize that it is important to receive good advice in the store and evaluate all the options. And most importantly, in the stores you will find a 3D SIMULATOR where you can clearly and almost realistically see how your sofa or armchair will look.

I have a Fama sofa and I am going to replace it with a new one. What should I do with the old one?

All our new models are designed to have easily separable and recyclable components.
If you have an older model, we recommend you to try to recycle as many parts as possible. For the rest of the sofa, check the regulations of your municipality. Generally, there will be a recycling center or ecopark near you where you can deposit your sofa. In most municipalities, there is also a pick-up service that manages the collection of waste.

It depends on the model of your sofa. Some parts have removable covers and some others are not. The covers can be purchased through official Fama distributors.
